Professor David M Lloyd is a Consultant Surgeon with over 20 years surgical experience. He is a pioneer of Laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery and is a specialist in Gall Stone Surgery (cholecystectomy), Hernia Repair and Surgery for Groin Pain. He has developed a single port technique for ‘scarless’ cholecystectomy together with a unique procedure for the treatment of groin pain – known as the Lloyd Release Procedure. This procedure has attracted patients from around the world, including top players from the football, rugby and hockey premier leagues in addition to Olympic athletes. His major surgery includes liver and pancreatic surgery usually for cancer and he has developed a microwave machine to destroy liver cancers which has gained him an international reputation. He is an advisor to the National Institute for Health & Care Excellence (NICE) and a regular speaker at British, European and American Surgical Societies. He is currently a full-time consultant surgeon specialising in laparoscopic and liver surgery at the University Hospital Leicester and is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester.
